After 1h30 for check-in in Brussels + security checks that went slow, the plane left 20 min later than expected and we just arrived after 2 big other planes at immigration in Atlanta => we missed our connection in Atlanta and had to re-book for a later flight.
But we were already in the US and the excellent service at Delta couldn't ruin our holiday spirit, just a little call to the car rental company to inform them we would be later and some patience at the airport.
We picked up our car at Alamo around 20h30 (LA time) and checked-in at Hollywood Heights hotel around 21h. Since we first got a room with window that didn't close (= lot of noise from the street), we asked for another room. Switch was done without problem and we had an excellent night in great beds.
After a very nice breakfast we left for Universal Studios (10 min by car).
Excellent weather & not very crowdy resulted in a relaxing first day (Shrek in 4D - terminator in 3D - Krustyland - Studio Tour including a drive in Wisteria Lane - ...) that ended with dinner and a walk at Hollywood Boulevard (5 min walk from the hotel).
Hello boys, we zijn erin geslaagd je blogadres terug te vinden en zijn superblij dat jullie zijn kunnen vertrekken. Dat zal een hele opluchting geweest zijn na de natuurtroubles van de voorgaande dagen. We hebben nog geen tijd gevonden alles te lezen (de dagen zitten hier nu supervol) maar dat komt op een rustig moment zeker.

Great to know that your flight went well and that you arrived safe and sound, I thought there must be a reason that North America seemed to be a little bit nicer ;-) A little volcano can't stop you eh?
