Since Thursday all flights to and from Belgium are cancelled. Reason : After +/- 200 years a nice and quiet Icelandic volcano decided on this Wednesday that it was time to get some attention again. What at first sight gave magnificent images is now becoming a big threat for our holidays...
Whereas yesterday evening it was expected that flights would be allowed again as of 10h this morning the stop has now been extended to at least 20h today and some air companies (ex. Ryanair) even already announced they wouldn't fly before Monday.

In the meantime already 66.000 passengers that had to take off or land in Brussels are impacted and same situation at about 20 other European airports.
Apparently the eruptions of volcano Eyjafjallajökull are still as strong as 2 days ago and this is expected to continue at this level for at least 2 days ! Even if the clouds get smaller, once flights can take off again troubles are estimated to last several days ... so we'll certainly be impacted.
Last time the volcano erupted (+/- 200 years ago) it stayed active for 2 years ... so let's hope the weather gods bring some strong winds from the right direction ;-)
I wish you a kind wind to save your holiday plans, and keeping my fingers crossed too ;-)
